Our emission-free catamaran “AQUON One” is featured in the 2019 edition of the Best Practices for Eco-friendly Yachting guide by the Sustainable Yachting Network (SYN) in cooperation with the Fondation Prince Albert II de Monaco.
SYN lists AQUON One’s green hydrogen-based energy system in the guides’ propulsion section. It praises AQUON One for its innovative potential and benefits in terms of efficiency and the environment. AQUON One has the potential to run with zero-emissions by producing its own green hydrogen from solar energy. The energy system turns this hydrogen back into electricity whenever needed – with the only exhaust being droplets of hot water.
AQUON One is its own power plant with built-in energy storage. It uses solar energy to generate power on board and transforms excess energy into green hydrogen through electrolysis. Fuel cells reconvert the stored hydrogen into energy. This powers the silent electric engines, as well as any on-board appliances. The catamaran becomes independent from fossil fuels and land power supply.
With a broad experience in the yachting industry, the Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation has launched the Sustainable Yachting Network. Also on board are the Monaco Yacht Club, the Monaco Yacht Show, the Cluster Yachting Monaco and the Ramoge Agreement Secretariat. The initiative’s main goal is to support engaged acteurs from the marine sector and promote environmentally responsible solutions for the yachting industry. SYN wants to help the industry transform into an environmentally responsible economy. The guide on Best Practice in Eco-friendly Yachting covers all major sectors of the industry.
